This magnificent 18ct Gold antique flat cut Garnet brooch is Georgian Circa 1800.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
The fabulous piece is set with over 10ct of deep red flat cut Garnet’s.
The Garnet has been adored throughout history for it’s blazing red colour which hides beneath it’s dark surface. It is said to be a stone of purity, truth and a symbol of love and compassion.
The stones are set in a beautifully engraved 18ct Yellow Gold gallery, complete with swinging dropper.
The brooch has a small solder mark on the reverse but this is minimal wear for such an old piece.
This is a rare antique find that’s steeped in Georgian history!
